About
Partner/Spouse Visas
The Partner Migration Program enables Australian citizens,
permanent residents (or eligible New Zealand citizens), to
sponsor their partner (spouse, fiancée, defacto or same sex
partner) to unite them in Australia
To be suitable for Partner Migration, you must either be
married, engaged to, or in a defacto (common law) relationship
with an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New
Zealand citizen.
You must:
* be over 18 years of age and your relationship with your
partner must be authentic and
proceeding.
* Married and defacto couples must live together and
demonstrate a common dedication to a mutual life
together.
* Couples who are engaged must have a bona fide intention to
marry and live together as spouses.
You'll be asked to prove the nature of your relationship by
rendering an array of documentation. The Department of
Immigration and Citizenship could request you and your partner
to attend an interview.
Your Australian partner must agree to sponsor you and supply a
legal undertaking to support you during your first 2 years in
Australia.
