Australian Visas
For those entering the country of Australia as foreign citizens, there are a variety of visas available. Australian visas are categorized based on the type of person they are geared toward. There are different visas for workers, migrants, visitors, students, employers, and refugees. Each visa has its own set of requirements and obligations. In addition, each of these visas will have a set amount of time for which it is valid.
Australian visas for workers are subcategorized based on the profession of the worker in question. There are visas available for medical professionals, workers skilled in underserved professions, business people, pilots, and more. All of these visas require specific paperwork and qualifications. In addition, they all have a maximum length of validity before the visa must be renewed. Finally, many of these visas can be used as a pathway to permanent residence in Australia.
Migration visas are used by former residents of Australia to re-enter the company, or by close family members of people already living in the country. Student visas are used by those studying at all levels of education and can even by used by the parents or guardians of students visiting Australia. Visitors can use a variety of visas such as a tourist visa, working holiday visa, or retirement visa to enter Australia. Finally, Australian visas are available to refugees entering the country under the humanitarian program.
Australian visas also have requirements for the location of the applicant at the time the application is lodged. Some visas ask that the applicant be in Australia at the time of lodging an application, while the applicant must be outside of the country for other visas. In addition, some visas may even have requirements for the location of the applicant when the decision is made on the application. Finally, most visas allow for the primary applicant to bring certain people with them to Australia as secondary applicants.
